I had thought the days of ridiculous strikes on the basis of silly issues, and macho posturing by union leaders, was a thing of the past.
It is quite clear that the Mayor and the Tube companies believed they had given absolute commitments to honour the issues the union bosses were arguing over so the fact they strike anyway shows what a dinosaur their tube boss – Bob Crow – has become.
Of course, this is the power that lies behind the Labour Government and were their to be a general election tomorrow Brown will be brown nosing up to this union bopss to fund his campaign.
I would not let Bob Crow run my Hornby train set, let alone be the boss of a union that can bring London to a standstill.
UPDATE: I gather that Mr. Crow is such a reconstituted old Communist that he withdrew from the Labour party under Blair. I wonder whether he will be going back under Brown?

Assuming a deal can be made with brother Crow and his union will it contain a “no strike” clause.
I doubt it somehow and yet we cannot allow the capital city to grind to a halt every time some perceived wrong is identified by Crow and his cohorts.
London can grind to a halt most days without any help thanks to the appalling lack of investment by successive governments.
How long we can retain our reputation as THE world financial centre is finely balanced with roads/rail and airports gridlocked and ships unable to dock due to lack of Port capacity.
