No one cannot argue that the Lib Dems had their chance.
David Cameron offered a progressive alliance against Labour and they have rejected it.
Personally I cannot think of anything worse than allowing the Lib Dems near anything remotely resembling running a burger bar, let alone Government. A finer bunch of waffly hypocrites you will not find.
But now they appear to have signed themselves up to a post General Election pact with Labour. By rejecting Conservative approaches they have demonstrated that they have much more in common with the centralising authoritarianism of Labour and it is now very clear that they will keep Brown in power unless voters vote them out as well as Labour.
Tomorrow they announce the winner of their leadership contest. Does anyone care, is an anybody listening. The has been virtually nothing about any of them for weeks now and with Christmas coming the announcement will disappear off the air waves almost as fast as it arrives. By January it will be business as usual and their flawed belief that it was Ming that was deflating their poll position will be revealed to them.
Maybe Lib Dem MPs facing the truth of their own electoral oblivion will refocus their minds on either looking for new jobs outside politics or taking seriously the own problems – not that I really care!
